In Montana, every septic system needs to be engineered. Our team helps you understand the requirements for your property, including when it is not in an approved subdivision, when there is no certificate of supervision, and for all commercial and multi-family wastewater systems.

The process starts with a site evaluation: soil test pits, percolation characteristics, groundwater depth, and setbacks to wells, streams, and property lines. From that data, our team designs a wastewater system matched to your site -- conventional gravity where soils allow, pressure-dosed or advanced treatment where they don't.

We then prepare and submit the permit package and manage the review process with the county sanitarian and, where applicable, Montana DEQ. We work regularly with Yellowstone, Stillwater, Carbon, Musselshell, and Sweet Grass county offices, so we know what each jurisdiction expects and how to keep reviews moving. Allow at least 30 days for engineering and review; we'll give you a realistic timeline up front.

Engineering typically starts around $5,000 depending on project scope and complexity -- and bundling engineering with installation through TLC Patriot usually costs less overall than hiring a standalone engineering firm and then bidding out the construction.
